Everest is known in Tibet as Chomolungma and as Sagarmatha in Nepal is located
half in Nepal and half in Tibet. It is the
tallest point on Earth at 8.848m i.e. 5 and 1/2
miles
above sea level.
The North Ridge is considered to be the safest route, but technically, it is
more challenging than the South Side but does not have the ice fall danger. The Advanced Base Camp (6,400m) is right under the shadow of Changtse and has a view
of virtually the whole route. From here generally four more camps are used.
Trip Itinerary
Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel.
Day 02-03 Kathmandu. Hotel.
Day 04 Transfer to the airport, fly to Lukla (2800m) and trek to
Phakding (2640m). Overnight at Resort.
Day 05 Namche Bazaar (3446m). Overnight in lodge.
Day 06 Trek to Khumjung (3790m). Overnight at Resort. Visit the
Hillary School and the Yeti Scalp in the local Gompa with Dunje Festival every
year in June.
Day 07 Stay at Khumjung for acclimatization. Visit to Gonglha for
a panoramic view of Mt. Kongde, Parchamo, Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kangtega,
Thamserku and the villages of Thame valley and Kunde.
Day 08 Tengboche Monastery (3867m) with its famous Mani Rimdu
Festival. Overnight in tent.
Day 09 Dingboche. Overnight in tent.
Day 10 Lobuche (4900m). Overnight at Resort.
Day11 Day free in Lobuche.
Day 12 Everest Base Camp.
Day 13-57 Climbing Period Mt. Everest.
Day 58 Cleaning up Base Camp.
Day 59 Trek to Pheriche. Overnight in lodge.
Day 60 Trek to Khumjung. Overnight at Resort.
Day 61 Trek to Phakding. Overnight at Resort.
Day 62 Trek to Lukla. Overnight in lodge.
Day 63 Fly to Kathmandu. Transfer your Hotel.
Day 64 Free day at Kathmandu.
Day 65 Transfer to the airport and departure from Kathmandu.
